Daniel Webster College Provost to Become President of Antioch University McGregor in Ohio

Michael Fishbein's Five-Year Tenure Marked by Development of a Long-Term Vision for the College and Program Expansion

NASHUA, NH--(Marketwire - March 5, 2009) - Daniel Webster College today announced that the school's provost, Michael Fishbein, Ph.D., was offered and has accepted the presidency of Antioch University McGregor in Yellow Springs, OH. Dr. Fishbein will assume his new duties July 1, 2009.

Appointment of an interim provost and search for Dr. Fishbein's successor will commence in the near future.

"I am thrilled at the opportunity to lead Antioch McGregor," said Dr. Fishbein. "The people I have met at Antioch are committed, resourceful, and determined to serve the school's students and mission. In fact, they remind me of the people of Daniel Webster College who have lived these values each day. My readiness to take this step is due in no small measure to what I have learned from my colleagues at Daniel Webster College."

The appointment is an obvious next step for Dr. Fishbein in his academic career, particularly following his many accomplishments at Daniel Webster College. During his five-year tenure, Dr. Fishbein created new models for the role of full-time faculty and worked with his academic colleagues to rebuild the culture of evidence. Additionally, he developed and implemented a new general education model. He oversaw an exciting expansion of the curriculum by introducing nine new programs, including one in Homeland Security, and worked tirelessly with his colleagues to develop, refine and promote a new vision and direction for Daniel Webster College.

"At first glance, the program profiles of Antioch and Daniel Webster could not be more different," continued Fishbein. "What unites them, and why I felt a kinship for Antioch, is that both share the commitment to higher education as a pathway to a better, safer, more productive world. Both are small and affirm the values of human community."

In addition to his time at Daniel Webster, Dr. Fishbein has an impressive academic background that made him an attractive candidate to lead Antioch McGregor. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York. He received both his master's and doctorate degrees in social psychology from Clark University.

"Dr. Fishbein's leadership, loyalty and vision have resulted in accomplishments that will leave an everlasting impression on Daniel Webster College," stated Robert E. Myers, Ph.D., president, Daniel Webster College. "We are proud that Dr. Fishbein is being recognized and rewarded in a way that brings honor to him and to Daniel Webster College."
