Danielle Valiquette Recognized at the Gala des prix Reconnaissance UQAM 2013

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 23, 2013) - ONE DROP is proud to announce the nomination of Chief International Programs Officer Danielle Valiquette for an award which will be presented tonight, at the Gala des prix Reconnaissance UQAM 2013.

On this occasion, seven Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) degree holders will be granted the Reconnaissance UQAM award. Bestowed by the Conseils de diplômés facultaires, these accolades will be allotted in recognition of the awardees' exceptional contribution in their respective academic and professional fields to UQAM's development and influence, on a national and international scale.

Holder of a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) since 2006, Danielle Valiquette will be honored by the École des sciences de la gestion for her communications and diplomatic skills, her commitment to bettering the lives of the world's less fortunate as well as her shrewd and innovative management style.

The 13th edition of the Gala des prix Reconnaissance UQAM will be welcoming more than 400 guests stemming from various walks of life such as degree holders, influential members of the academic, political, economic and cultural arenas as well as civil society representatives. This yearly affair is considered by many as the most significant networking event benefiting UQAM.

About Danielle Valiquette

Danielle Valiquette has been part of ONE DROP's team since its inception. In May 2011, she began acting as its Chief International Programs Officer. Ms. Valiquette has been committed to social justice and international development for nearly 25 years. Before joining the non-profit organization's ranks, she was employed by Oxfam-Québec, a major technical partner of ONE DROP's, for a period of 17 years namely as Director of International Programs (Africa and Asia). Danielle Valiquette acquired over six years of experience in managing numerous programs while she lived in the field, specifically a substantial one set in the Horn of Africa aiming to enhance the capacities of local organizations involved in community media, social justice and gender equality. Previously, Ms. Valiquette had worked with the Rights and Democracy organization for 2 years, during which time she put together a variety of initiatives, including a high profile mission comprised of 10 Nobel Peace Prize recipients in order to secure Aung San Suu Kyi and other Burmese political prisoners' freedom.
