DAREarts is Saddened By the Passing of its Chairman, Paul Semple

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 20, 2015) -

DAREarts is saddened by the passing of its Chairman, Paul Semple, COO of Noront Resources.

Paul and DAREarts first connected shortly after DAREarts was invited by the northern, remote community of Webequie First Nation to bring its multi-arts and values programs to encourage the young people to engage in positive, creative activities.

Paul and Noront Resources first supported DAREarts' making of a documentary film called 'Fill My Hollow Bones' that follows the first three years of the program in Webequie, created in large part by the youth themselves. The premiere was held at TIFF Bell Lightbox and is still being shown across the country as encouragement to aboriginal young people.

Paul and Noront Resources have subsequently provided support for DAREarts working in other northern communities who also wanted the program for their young people.

Paul joined the DAREarts Board of Directors in January, 2010 and was Vice-President for the last three years. This January, he became Chairman. Paul's measured leadership will be greatly missed. He understood the importance of giving youth every chance possible to 'become their best selves' and reach their full potential as strong and active individuals. We will honour his legacy by continuing to build the courage and confidence within the youth to become leaders who ignite positive change.
