D'Arianne Resources Inc. starts drilling on the Contact Zone, Opinaca property, James Bay

SAGUENAY, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 16, 2006) - The management of D'Arianne (TSX VENTURE:DAR) is very pleased to announce that a 3,000-meter drilling campaign on the Opinaca property will start in early February. The drilling will be focused mainly on the gold showings of the Contact Zone.

Located South of the Opinaca reservoir, the Opinaca property covers an area of 1,057 hectares and spreads East to West on 5 km and on 2 to 3 km North-South. It is located 50 km East of road relay Km 381, on the James Bay road. The access to the Opinaca property is greatly improved with the newly constructed electrical power lines.

The environment of the Opinaca reservoir contains numerous mineralized showings despite the low level of previous exploration done in the area. In addition to these showings, the area includes the lac a l'Eau Claire deposit (Eastmain Resources; 990,000 ounces of gold, March 3, 2005 press release), the Roberto-Eleonore discovery (Goldcorp/Virginia; resources not yet determined) as well as the Eastmain Mine deposit (Campbell Resources; 255,750 ounces of gold, 2004 Annual report).

The presence of these numerous deposits and showings have many observers believe in the birth of a new mining camp in Canada.

The surface works completed in the summer and fall of 2005 uncovered the presence of gold on a length of more than 300 metres by 30 metres wide (the Contact zone). During the July 2005 sampling campaign on the Opinaca property, the Company announced that 10 chosen samples from the Contact zone returned grades higher than 1 g/t Au, with two samples returning values of 85,7 g/t Au and 567 g/t Au (See Sept 27, 2005 press release).

Additional channel samples were extracted last Fall from the Contact zone (See October 27, 2005 press release). From the 60 samples extracted, 40 returned values greater than 1 g/t Au, 18 samples returned values greater than 5 g/t Au and 7 samples valued higher than 10 g/t Au with two of these returning grades of 38.13 g/t Au and 105.81 g/t Au. All these mineralisations are contained in quartz veins parallel to the general attitude of the rocks that form, in this area, volcano-sedimentary pilings.

The Opinaca property also contains many more gold showings, namely the Chino zone (10.7 g/t Au on 1.4 m and 4.9 g/t Au on 3 m) located 1.4 km North-East of the Contact zone, the East Chino zone (1.85 g/t Au on 1m; chosen samples of 8.22 and 6.75 g/t Au), 400 m to the East, as well as the Renard zone (6.38 and 3.8 g/t Au), located 2.5 km South West of the Contact zone. Additional surface works are planned for next Spring and will be required on these other showings in order to define drilling targets.

The recent acquisition in this area by Goldcorp, the existence of gold deposits and the presence of many other exploration companies suggests the emergence of a new mining camp.

It's in this very favorable context that the Company will start in a few weeks, Phase 1 of the drilling campaign on the Opinaca property, Contact zone. This first phase of drilling will test the size of the gold system in depth as well as the lateral extension of the Contact zone that is currently known on a length of 300 metres.
