Dartmouth Common Master Plan Receives National Design Award

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - March 30, 2011) - The Dartmouth Common Master Plan has been awarded a 2011 Regional Merit Award of Excellence from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA).

Prepared by CBCL Limited for Halifax Regional Municipality – Real Property Planning, the Dartmouth Common Master Plan establishes a design and administrative framework for the protection, enhancement and management of 150 acres of land in the heart of Dartmouth.

The Dartmouth Common Master Plan delivers an inspiring vision, prescriptive design framework and clear implementation roadmap for guiding the future development of cherished but largely fragmented urban core lands, which have been protected for the common good for over 220 years. The master plan establishes legible precincts that highlight the predominately public nature of activities on Common land and creates a character defining structure by prescribing appropriate uses on the Common.

This award represents the third recognition by the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects for the work of CBCL Limited in the last five years, thus emphasizing the continued competitiveness in design excellence of local landscape architects and planners at a national level.
