Dartware Releases InterMapper Flows NetFlow Analysis Software 1.2

NetFlow Analyzer Now Includes Instant Access to Whois Data and Other Key Usability Features

WEST LEBANON, NH--(Marketwire - December 3, 2009) - Dartware, developer of the InterMapper network monitoring and mapping software, has announced the release of InterMapper Flows 1.2, a new version of its NetFlow analysis software. "InterMapper Flows 1.2 makes it even easier to analyze network activity quickly," says Rich Brown, CEO of Dartware. "It combines incredibly detailed NetFlow data collection and retention with tools that make the data instantly useful for network forensics, traffic analysis, and capacity planning."

InterMapper Flows sets itself apart in the NetFlow analysis market by collecting and reporting data with microsecond accuracy, ensuring that network administrators can look deeply into all network activity. In addition, InterMapper Flows retains all flows data over time to determine top talkers, top listeners, and top hosts and support network policy and planning decisions.

New features in InterMapper 1.2 include:

-- NetFlow v7, jFlow and cFlow support -- Analysis of flow protocols now
includes NetFlow v7 (Cisco Catalyst series), jFlow (for Juniper equipment)
    and cFlow protocols.
-- Right-click access to Whois information from IP addresses --
Administrators noting suspicious activity at a particular IP address can
instantly access Whois information by right-clicking on the address to
    facilitate the forensics process.
-- The Top Host list indicates the origin for each IP address with a
country flag -- Knowing where an IP address is located gives important
information, especially if activity is unexpected or leading to heavy
traffic. Country flags give an at-a-glance heads up on traffic origins or

"The Whois feature is a great example of an elegant way to keep important network forensics data at a network administrator's fingertips in order to facilitate quick action," says Brown. "A customer, Jeff Foss at Blackwell Public Schools in Oklahoma, told us that he identified a user connected to a hacking site right after installing InterMapper Flows. He'd noticed that traffic spiked at exactly 10:00 every day but didn't know why. InterMapper Flows immediately pointed to an IP address. The Whois information led him to the site. He was able to block the site quickly and shut the hacker down. With the new feature, that critical Whois information is a right-click away."

InterMapper Flows 1.2 adds other usability features including reduced memory footprint, additional options for auto-refresh timer rates, calendar widgets for time-frame selections, and ability to save reports as PDFs.

InterMapper Flows is based on technology created by ProQueSys, LLC. Dartware partnered with ProQueSys in 2008 to produce high-performance tools for deep analysis of network traffic.
