Dassault Aviation Adopts the Future Version of the Microsoft Surface Table, the Samsung Sur40 for Microsoft Surface

SAINT-CLOUD CEDEX 300, FRANCE--(Marketwire - Jul 7, 2011) -

In a world premiere at the 49th Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, Dassault Aviation presented enterprise applications using the future Samsung Sur40 tactile table for Microsoft Surface.

Partners in the realm of technological innovation for several years, Dassault Aviation and Microsoft had already explored the potential of this technology with the first version of the Surface table by creating a prototype military mission planning system.

Today no less than three applications for the Samsung Sur40 were unveiled, all in the military support domain:

* Promotion of the Rafale Export: virtual tour of the aircraft, animated explanation of concepts, configurations and performances.

* Military Mission Planning: air patrol configuration, outline of the tactical situation and the mission in all-tactile mode based on cartographic data.

* Post-flight debriefing and diagnostics support for flight line crew and mechanics.

These applications fully exploit the characteristics of the future Samsung Sur40 table for Microsoft Surface: 40-inch full HD flat screen, new PixelSense technology, high-performance graphic processor, etc.

In addition to technological innovation, the company sees several advantages:

* A totally natural system, which reduces learning time to a minimum. A concrete sign of the arrival of the Natural User Interface.

* Ease of integration into the IT system allowing collection, sharing and enrichment of all kinds of enterprise information (including 3D digital mockup).

* Ability to support collaborative work modes, even from a remote site, in different domains: design, manufacturing, backup, sales and support.

Alain Bonny, Senior Vice-President, Military Customer Support Division, Dassault Aviation :

"Customers who came to see us at the Paris Air Show were all impressed by this highly innovative concept - cutting-edge technology that is extremely natural to use."

François Ruault, hardware leader at Microsoft Corp.:
