Data Depth Files International PCT Patent Application on iCopyright Toolbar

Patent Attorney Jeff Haley Joins Company's Board of Directors

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 4, 2005 -- Data Depth Corporation, a/k/a:, announced today that it has filed an international Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) patent application on its new toolbar for the browser. "This patent application extends the U.S. application we filed last year to about 200 countries," said Mike O'Donnell, Data Depth's CEO. This is the fourth patent application the company has filed. The first patent application covering the core iCopyright system was filed in 1999 and is currently being examined by the United States Patent & Trademark Office. "We are looking forward to a notice of allowance in the near future," said O'Donnell.

In a related announcement, Data Depth Corp. named Seattle-based patent attorney Jeff Haley to its board of directors. Haley has been actively involved in formulating the company's patent strategy for seven years. "We believe we have the definitive intellectual property in the digital copyright licensing space," said Daniel Sauerhaft, Data Depth Director. "Jeff has been invaluable as a patent strategist and IP advisor, it was natural for his role to evolve from patent counsel to board member," he said.

Mr. Haley is a partner in the firm of Graybeal Jackson Haley. His practice includes patent infringement analysis, patent avoidance, patent applications, technology licensing and development agreements, software copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and disputes involving intellectual property or technology. His litigation experience as lead counsel includes mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals through the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Haley holds the highest rating given by the national rating organization, Martindale-Hubbell.

"Data Depth has pioneered a unique system that is very important to the evolution of the Internet and online publishing," said Mr. Haley. "My goal is to help the company exploit the full potential of the iCopyright technology."
