Data Domain and Vizioncore to Simplify Backup & DR for Virtualized Environments

Vizioncore's vRanger Pro Certified With Data Domain

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - September 11, 2007) - Data Domain (NASDAQ: DDUP), the leading provider of Deduplication Storage systems, today announced a strategic partnership with Vizioncore Inc. As VMware technology alliance partners, both Data Domain and Vizioncore offer products and solutions that streamline the management and administration of data protection processes for VMware users, and lower backup and disaster recovery (DR) costs in virtual machine environments. The two companies have concluded joint certification of Vizioncore's vRanger Pro solution with Data Domain systems and are launching joint marketing and sales initiatives.

Vizioncore has the largest client base and toolset specifically focused around VMware virtual infrastructures. Its market-leading flagship product, vRanger Pro (formerly esxRanger Professional), first launched in April of 2005. Today, the company has nearly 5,000 customers worldwide, 700 channel partners and 50,000 licenses in use. Data Domain offers VMware users robust data integrity features, fast backups and recoveries, exceptionally high compression rates (typically 40-100x) and network efficient WAN vaulting for DR.

"The combination of Data Domain and Vizioncore's products offers an extremely compelling solution to VMware users," said Chris Akerberg, VP of Global Sales and Marketing for Vizioncore. "Vizioncore's nearly 5,000 customers can now gain even more value from their investment in virtualization technologies and our products by leveraging the benefits of Data Domain's high-speed deduplication and data integrity technologies to help streamline and solidify their data protection processes and drive down storage costs."

Vizioncore's vRanger Pro solution offers full image level (versus individual file level) backups of virtual machines to enable faster, more efficient storage and recovery of virtual machines. In combined implementations, Data Domain's protection storage systems serve as the backup target for these virtual machine images, applying high-speed inline data deduplication to reduce the disk storage capacity required. Data Domain then offers network efficient vaulting of the images over existing network infrastructures for disaster recovery purposes.

"This partnership aligns two market leaders to collectively address the data protection needs of virtualized environments," said Beth White, vice president of marketing for Data Domain. "Backup of virtual machines generates storage of data that carries a high degree of redundancy, and Data Domain's deduplication technology eliminates this redundancy, making the process highly efficient and cost effective. As the key deduplication storage partner for Vizioncore, Data Domain has significantly strengthened the value proposition we bring to the table for VMware users. The partnership between Vizioncore and Data Domain is all about simplification, efficiency and cost reduction -- the very same principles that drew users to VMware virtualized environments."
