Data Domain Posts Record Sales in Q3

Company Records Its 11th Consecutive Quarter of Sales Growth

SANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 10, 2006 -- Data Domain, the leading provider of Enterprise Protection Storage systems for disk backup and network-based disaster recovery, today announced record sales for the fiscal quarter ending September 30, 2006. Third quarter sales for the company were up 40% compared to the previous quarter and up 260% compared to the same quarter in 2005. Sales for the first nine months of 2006 were up 360% from the same period in 2005. Total customer count is now approaching 600, up from well over 400 at mid year.

"Data Domain sales are accelerating all over the globe, and we see much more enterprise wide deployment of our protection storage systems than before," said Frank Slootman, president and CEO of Data Domain. "The market shift from tapes and trucks towards disks and networks is well underway now, and Data Domain is leading the field by a considerable margin."

Along with record sales results, the company continued to execute aggressively in delivering new products, growing its customer base, reinforcing its intellectual property portfolio and growing its distribution capacity in Q3:
