Datacert's "Generals of the Revolution" to Help Legal Executives Develop Actionable Plans for Strategic Law Department Management

Exclusive Peer Conference to Feature Noted Author and Legal Industry Visionary, Richard Susskind

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - Aug 30, 2011) - Datacert Inc., the premier global provider of enterprise legal management solutions, will gather prominent legal industry visionaries for the first-ever two-day Generals of the Revolution™, an annual thought leadership event series designed to help in-house legal executives develop and implement innovative strategies and practical plans that are necessary for effectively managing a global legal department and actively promoting the value it provides to the organization.

The peer-driven event, which features an interactive strategy session on optimizing legal operations and service delivery for a technology-driven global economy, facilitated by author and legal technologist, Professor Richard Susskind, will be held in Washington D.C. on September 15-16 at The Fairfax at Embassy Row. The event is open to general counsel, directors of legal operations, and others with a leadership role at large corporate legal departments.

"Economic volatility has transformed the role of the corporate law department into one where in-house counsel are required to take a much more savvy approach to delivering and sourcing legal services," said Mark Poag, general counsel and senior vice president, Datacert. "Utilizing advanced technology is the only way in-house counsel will be able to execute proactive business practices that help mitigate risk, reduce costs, and increase productivity. Generals of the Revolution offers a distinct opportunity for legal executives to develop fundamental execution tactics that support efforts to deliver valuable legal services in today's global economy."

"This conference offers a great opportunity for leaders in the in-house legal community to come together and discuss practical solutions to our industry's most pressing challenges," said Susskind. "I hope that general counsel who are interested in new savings and efficiencies for their departments will take time to attend."

To ensure attendees have maximum opportunities to share best practices and exchange ideas, the agenda has been carefully crafted to include discussions in large and small group settings. Peter Beshar, executive vice president and general counsel, Marsh & McLennan, will lead a case study presentation covering ways to utilize technology to measure department performance and demonstrate value. Additionally, Doug Magnuson, ECM Solutions Executive, IBM, will present on ways to enhance the legal department's impact on information lifecycle governance.

"The volume of data retained in corporations is ballooning out of control and is creating an unsustainable situation," said Magnuson. "Participants will gain knowledge on information lifecycle governance and learn how they can implement strategies that balance rigorous e-discovery with value-based retention and defensible disposal policies."

Datacert launched Generals of the Revolution in 2010 to provide industry leaders with an open forum to discuss innovative ideas and define the path for change in the legal industry. In 2011 the event evolved into an interactive roundtable format, focused on turning strategic ideas into practical solutions. Due to the widespread success of the Generals of the Revolution roundtables held earlier this year, Datacert extended the event to two days to provide legal executives with even more opportunities to develop execution plans and tactics to address critical industry concerns.

Generals of the Revolution is held in collaboration with InsideCounsel, a Summit Business Media publication, and The General Counsel Forum. Attendance at all Generals of the Revolution is limited to promote maximum peer-to-peer interaction. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register online.
