DataDirect Networks (DDN) CTO to Speak at Structure 2011

Cloud Storage Market Leader CTO Will Discuss "NoFS" and Breaking Storage Scalability Barriers

CHATSWORTH, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 22, 2011) - DataDirect Networks (DDN), the world's largest privately-held information storage company, today announced that Vice President of Research and Development, and Chief Technology Officer of Software, Philippe Ciampossin, will speak at the GigaOm Structure 2011 conference, on June 22, 2011 in San Francisco, CA.

Ciampossin will reference the progress made by the NoSQL movement to introduce the concept of "NoFS," or "no file systems." In a world of object storage, the file system is increasingly becoming the main bottleneck to increased performance and scalability. Fortunately, new architectures are available that scale to tens of petabytes, provide universal access, and offer hundreds of billions of object read/writes a day and that operate completely free of file system limitations.

Ciampossin will draw on DDN's extensive experience in providing the industry's most advanced cloud storage infrastructure to talk about these new architectures, and how they break new ground in scalability and efficiency to serve as the storage foundation for today's Big Data era and our Hyperscale future.

Philippe Ciampossin is the Vice President of Research and Development, and Chief Technology Officer of Software at DataDirect Networks. He is a seasoned senior executive in technology management with experience working as the CTO and R&D leader for global IT systems organizations. He has a successful track record of developing engineering organizations and products from the ground up in startup environments as well as in large corporate environments. Ciampossin has a French Graduate Engineering degree with a major in Artificial Intelligence EPITA and a French Undergraduate Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering ESIG. He also holds a patent for a query service for electronic documents archived in a multidimensional storage space.
