Auto Buying Consumer Demand Shows Moderate Gains as Inventory Levels Have Returned to Pre-Quake Levels

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - Sep 26, 2011) - The Dataium ASI index, a leading predictive indicator of automotive sales, continued to show marginal gains for the third straight month, indicating that sales volumes will make modest gains through September and October. Inventory search and lead volume were up significantly with the sedan segment leading the way.

Domestic brands (GM, Ford & Chrysler) as a group have continued to post solid numbers -- Ford and Chrysler both outpaced the market. In comparison, imports have continued to demonstrate strength with Toyota and Nissan leading the way. Search interest in SUVs and trucks were both up by nearly 5%, while sedans led the way over all segments.
