DataStax Appoints Karl Van den Bergh as Chief Marketing Officer

Senior Marketing Leader to Execute Company's Cloud Applications Strategy

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 23, 2016) - DataStax, the leading provider of database software for cloud applications, today announced the appointment of Karl Van den Bergh as chief marketing officer. Van den Bergh joins DataStax from TIBCO and is an industry veteran with a history of building high-performance teams, products and businesses.

As general manager for the TIBCO Analytics cloud business, Van den Bergh was responsible for all product and go-to-market execution that resulted in building the business into the top-selling analytics cloud service on the Amazon Web Services Marketplace. Van den Bergh was also general manager for cloud and senior vice president of products at Jaspersoft, which was acquired by TIBCO in 2014. Van den Bergh has a history of successful roles, both strategic and operational, in early-stage startups such as Kickfire where he ran marketing and alliances, as well as billion-dollar tech companies like Business Objects where he held progressively senior positions including running the corporate strategy board and acting as general manager for the Information-On-Demand cloud business.

Van den Bergh holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Trinity College in Dublin and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Imperial College in London and is fluent in three languages.
