Former Chief Legal Officer at Brandeis University Returns to Private Practice at Leading Boston Litigation Boutique

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jan 14, 2016) - Donnelly, Conroy & Gelhaar, LLP announced today that David A. Bunis has joined the firm as a Partner. Previously, Bunis served as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Chief of Staff, and Secretary of the Corporation at Brandeis University for five years, where he was responsible for managing the University's legal operations.

At Brandeis, Bunis led the successful resolution of several high-profile matters including a nationally publicized dispute involving the potential closure of the University's art museum and the sale of its $300M art collection; government investigations of executive compensation paid by major New England hospitals, universities and nonprofits; and Title IX college campus sexual assault investigations.

"All of us here at Donnelly, Conroy & Gelhaar are thrilled to have David on our team," said T. Christopher Donnelly. "His judgment and skills as both an advocate and wise counselor, as well as his commitment to the community, have earned him well deserved respect of judges, fellow lawyers and clients. He is truly an outstanding attorney, and we look forward to working with him."

"I am excited to return to private practice at DCG, where I will be working with longtime colleagues and friends whose work I greatly admire and respect," said Bunis. "I chose the firm because it is one of New England's premier litigation firms with a talented team of seasoned lawyers practicing at the highest level of the profession."

Bunis will focus his practice on state and federal litigation and advising clients on risk management and dispute resolution. He has a long track record of successfully representing clients in a wide variety of matters including breach of contract, professional negligence, employment, misrepresentation, and consumer protection cases. His practice will also focus on higher education and nonprofit matters including governance, investigations, and campus disciplinary and sexual assault matters.

While in private practice, Bunis was named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer for 10 consecutive years (2001-2011) and a Massachusetts Lawyer of the Year in 2007. He has also been named by his peers as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Massachusetts (2005-2011).
