David Angelo Honored by The Weingart Partners for Raising Awareness and Funds for L.A. Homeless

EL SEGUNDO, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 10, 2012) - David&Goliath Founder and Chief Creative Officer David Angelo was honored by The Weingart Partners at its ninth annual soirée, "An Enchanting Evening of the Great Gatsby." The Oct. 6 event was held at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills and showcased the series of videos that the ad agency produced about addressing homelessness in the city.

The Weingart Partners is comprised of professionals who volunteer their time and resources to fundraising events and activities in support of The Weingart Center Association.

"I am humbled with this honor by The Weingart Partners," said Angelo. "Weingart's greatest challenge lies in creating relevance in a world where it's so easy to look the other way. It is my hope that our work showed the L.A. community what a difference we can all make and that every person has a chance to realize his or her potential."

In 2009, David&Goliath approached The Weingart Center and offered their services pro bono. To help break the cycle of homelessness, David&Goliath began production on a video series titled "The Weingart Project" that highlighted the homeless population on Skid Row.

Two of David&Goliath's videos, "Coffins" and "Chalk," raised awareness about the issue. In "Coffins," the agency explained that every day in L.A., a person who lives on the streets often dies there. To illustrate the point, the agency placed coffins throughout Los Angeles and gave residents a look at how big and how real the problem is. "Chalk" showed what life on the streets was really like for the people who live there.

The videos had the same call to action for viewers as well as instructions on how to donate $10 through via their mobile devices. [Note: To send a mobile donation from your phone, text "HomelessLA" to 20222 to donate $10 to the Weingart Center to benefit its on-site services including: transitional housing; case management; substance abuse recovery; medical and mental health treatment; education; workforce development; permanent supportive housing; and family services.]

David&Goliath's goal was to get people to be part of a collective belief system by showing that every person has a chance to realize his or her potential, and sometimes, they just need a helping hand.
