David Fairchild, MD, MPH, Nationally Recognized Accountable Care and Population Health Management Expert Joins BDC Advisors as Director

New BDC Director Combines Senior Executive Experience at Academic Medical Centers With Leadership Roles in Organization and Management of Accountable Care Organizations and Clinically Integrated Physician Networks

MIAMI, FL--(Marketwired - June 03, 2015) - Rick Wesslund, founder and Chairman of BDC Advisors, the national healthcare strategy consulting firm, announced today that David Fairchild, MD, MPH, a nationally known healthcare expert on physician organization and engagement, has joined the firm as a director. Dr. Fairchild was, until recently, Senior Vice President of Clinical Integration at UMass Memorial Health Care (UMMHC), the largest healthcare provider in central and western Massachusetts, and President of UMass Memorial's Accountable Care Organization. He will continue his clinical activity at UMMHC and retain his faculty position as Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

As Senior Vice President of UMass Memorial Health Care, Dr. Fairchild organized over 1600 academic and community physicians into a clinically integrated, risk-sharing network with commercial and government contracts. He served the first president of the UMass Memorial's Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO. While Chief Medical Officer at Tufts Medical Center and Associate Professor of Medicine at Tufts Medical School in Boston, he played an instrumental role in bringing together over 1,000 community physicians and faculty in the New England Quality Care Alliance (NEQCA), the first academic physician network to sign the total cost of care Alternative Quality Contract (AQC) with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Prior to joining Tufts, David was director of Primary Care Services at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston -- part of Partners Healthcare -- and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He earned his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health.
