David Poe's "Love is Red" Hits the Street June 21st

Internationally Acclaimed Gem Exclusively Available for Digital Download at Davidpoe.com & Traditional Retail

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 20, 2005 -- After a lengthy European sojourn, David Poe is finally back in America with a new album that will break your heart and lower your blood pressure. David's third recording, "Love is Red," will be released domestically by The Lab (distributed by Universal Records) on June 21. The album will be available for download directly from www.davidpoe.com courtesy of Echospin, the pioneer of a breakthrough digital delivery technology that will see its official launch later this month.

Recorded in a Berlin bunker studio during the coldest winter in German history, Poe calls "Love is Red" the "saddest record ever made." Poe enlisted the support of his original combo, drummer Sim Cain & stand-up bassist John Abbey. Attacking the music like a mod trio with jazz sensibilities, the recordings are lean and to the point. Finally, the vibe of the live show that has delighted folks the world over has been captured. "Love is Red" has received raves reviews from Rolling Stone France, The London Sunday Times, Uncut Das Spiegel, Rolling Stone Germany, and The Independent & The New York Post.

"So Beautiful," produced by Duncan Sheik, is the first single off the record. It is also featured in award-winning William H. Macy-produced film "Transamerica," starring Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman. The film will be one of the first releases from former Miramax honchos, the Weinsteins.

Poe has two critically acclaimed records in his arsenal: The self-titled debut, produced by T-Bone Burnett and "The Late Album" (both Sony/Epic). But with little more adornment than acoustic guitar, the peerless rhythm of drummer Sim Cain (Henry Rollins, Marc Ribot) and bassist John Abbey (John Cale) and his singular voice echoing underground, Poe's latest effort makes the best case yet for his formidable songwriting skills.

Poe will perform on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" at 11AM Pacific Time on June 20th. The show can be streamed live at www.kcrw.org. Other syndicated sessions to look forward to can be heard on World Café, Sirius Radio and WFUV.

David Poe will be hitting the road this summer in varied configurations. A tour with comrade Duncan Sheik for the end of the summer is in the works.
