HAYWARD, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 15, 2012) - Davis Instruments today announced that its WeatherLink® Network, a global network of Davis Weather Stations, has passed a major milestone, growing to more than 10,000 installations throughout the world. The WeatherLink Network is a community of weather enthusiasts who use the network's website, www.weatherlink.com, to upload and view their own weather data and to share it with anyone who is interested in accurate, location-specific weather information.
WeatherLink Network community members are located throughout the world including: North and South America, Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Guam, Greenland and even the Cook and Canary Islands.
"We are continually surprised to see where our WeatherLink members show up globally," said Susan Foxall, Director of Marketing, Davis Instruments. "Our network has grown rapidly, and that tells us people are using viral networking to spread the word about the WeatherLink Network. In the past year, we have added more than 3,000 new members. We are delighted that our customers see value in the network and have made their weather data available for the world to view."
To join the WeatherLink Network, a weather watcher must have a Davis Weather Station and WeatherLinkIP, a software and data logger package that connects the weather station to the web. Users don't have to design their own web page or secure a domain name. There is no setup or hosting fee. With WeatherLinkIP, members plug the data logger into a Vantage Vue or Vantage Pro2 console, or Weather Envoy and into their router/hub for immediate data upload. With WeatherLinkIP, updates and alarm notices are easily sent to an email address or cell phone.
The WeatherLink Network and WeatherLinkIP software make an ideal home weather combo and complete the circle for weather station users who want to record, share and track data. Members can access data from wherever they have Internet access, whether they are using a home or office computer, laptop, smartphone, or iPhone. WeatherLinkIP sells for $295.
In addition to the Internet-enabled WeatherLinkIP, Davis Instruments makes WeatherLink versions and Integrated Pest Modules that can be used for more specialized applications by agricultural and irrigation professionals, ham radio operators (APRS) and emergency response teams.
