Davis LLP's Heather Treacy, Q.C. Named One of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 27, 2014) - Davis LLP is proud to announce that Heather Treacy, Q.C., Office Managing Partner of the firm's Calgary office, has been named one of the 2014 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award winners (Women's Executive Network - WXN).

These awards recognize Canada's strong female leaders who have become agents of change in reshaping Canadian organizations.

Heather is a senior litigator sought after for her expertise in complex commercial litigation, aboriginal law, and her extensive knowledge of the energy industry. An outstanding leader, she was appointed Office Managing Partner of the firm's Calgary office within one year of joining Davis. During her career, Heather has chaired several Canadian Bar Association law sections, spearheaded mentoring programs and pro bono initiatives, and channeled her deep passion for the arts by serving on various boards, most recently as the Vice-Chair of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra's Board of Directors.

"We are very proud to see Heather recognized amongst such an elite group of women in Canada," said Rob Seidel, Q.C., Firm Managing Partner of Davis LLP. "She is one of the country's brightest lawyers and clients can always count on her for strategic and practical advice. Heather is unfailingly persistent in balancing a successful career along with community and family commitments. Through it all, Heather remains approachable and committed to helping young lawyers succeed and serves as an outstanding role model for other lawyers."

"Despite ever-changing styles and tastes, great leadership is timeless," says WXN founder, Pamela Jeffery. "Top 100 Award Winners are a testament to the incredible range of female talent and leadership in Canada and proof that change is happening, with more women earning a place at the highest levels of Canadian organizations."

"I am excited and truly honoured to be listed in the company of such dynamic women," Heather said. "Throughout my career, I have tried to demonstrate what I believe - that women can be leaders in their career, the community, and have a fulfilling family life. I am privileged to practice at a firm that nurtures that balance. My husband and three young children are a constant source of support and encouragement and I share this award with them."

Heather will receive her award at a special awards gala on November 27, 2014 in Toronto.

Since 2003, WXN's Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards have celebrated 800 outstanding women from a range of professions. Each year, WXN hosts top 100 celebrations in four cities: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal. A full list of 2014 award winners can be seen here.
