Daxor Announces the Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System (VA NYHHS) Acquires BVA-100 Blood Volume Analyzer & Initiates Dialysis Study

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Dec 19, 2011) - Daxor Corporation (NYSE Amex: DXR), a medical instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the start of a study utilizing the Daxor BVA-100 Blood Volume Analyzer to guide fluid therapy for patients undergoing renal dialysis. Daxor received a signed trial agreement from the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System, Manhattan campus, in July 2011. This agreement will provide the VA NY with a Blood Volume Analyzer-100 (BVA-100), an instrument which enables semi-automated measurement of a patient's total blood volume, red blood cell volume and plasma volume. Blood volume abnormalities are observed in a variety of cardiac conditions and have been associated with poor prognosis.

The VA NYHHS is part of the Southern New York/New Jersey Veterans Integrated Service Network, one of 23 such networks serving the healthcare needs of veteran populations across the country. Formerly known as the Manhattan VA Hospital, the New York Campus of the VA NYHHS is located at First Avenue and 23rd Street, and has been affiliated with New York University School of Medicine since 1961.

The New York Campus of the VA NYHHS has been designated the referral center for all invasive cardiovascular procedures in VSN3. The hospital's HIV/AIDS and Dialysis Programs have been designated as Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Centers of Excellence.

There are currently 67 institutional review board-approved research projects under way and VA physicians are Principal Investigators on VA- and non-VA funded-grants totaling $17 million.

Dr. David Goldfarb, Clinical Chief of Nephrology, said, "We are very excited to utilize this instrument in our Dialysis Study and are looking forward to the data that the BVA-100 will provide to us in helping to guide therapy."

Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, which is used in conjunction with Volumex, Daxor's single use diagnostic kit. For more information regarding Daxor Corporation's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100, visit Daxor's website at www.Daxor.com.
