PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwired - Feb 6, 2014) - Day & Zimmermann (D&Z), the century-old, family-owned provider of construction and engineering, staffing and defense solutions for leading corporations and governments around the world, announced today that it has received the Maynard Spence Safety Award from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for the second consecutive year. The company was given the award for its maintenance and modification work on the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant.
This award is presented annually by the TVA to contract partners that achieve outstanding safety performance, and is named for Maynard "Hedgehog" Spence, an employee of Marsh & McLennan Companies who served as a Loss Control Consultant to TVA's owner-controlled insurance program. He dedicated his career to jobsite safety on construction projects. Maynard died tragically in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001 and the award was created to honor his memory.
