DCG Systems Extends Technological Leadership With Approval of Additional Key Patents

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - October 17, 2008) - DCG Systems, Inc., the leading supplier of semiconductor Yield Enhancement, Design Debug, Failure Analysis and Circuit Edit instruments, announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the issuance of five new patents to add to its strong portfolio of main core technologies. DCG Systems has a significant amount of intellectual property in the fields of semiconductor probing, high power dissipation through spray cooling, and the use of a solid immersion lens (SIL) for semiconductor diagnosis. With over 131 patents issued and 90 pending, DCG considers its intellectual property portfolio to be one of its strongest assets and draws on it to maintain technological leadership in the market.

Recently approved patents include:

A system which permits the orthogonal alignment of a semiconductor device to the optical axis of a solid immersion lens (SIL). This technology is the basis for DCG Systems' unique "Point & Click" SIL.

The use of a modulated laser beam with solid immersion lens optics for the purpose of semiconductor analysis.

Improvements to the revolutionary laser-voltage-probing (LVP) technology employed by the Ruby analytical instrument.

The detection of photon emissions for the purpose of measuring the characteristics of an electrical signal inside of an integrated circuit under test.

A method for discriminating photon emissions generated by a transistor from those produced by surrounding background sources.
