Deadline Approaching for Nominations for the BC Community Achievement Awards

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2016) - They are young and old and come from BC's biggest cities and tiniest towns. They are recipients of the British Columbia Community Achievement Award, one of the highest honours bestowed on BC residents who make life better in their communities.

The British Columbia Achievement Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2016 BC Community Achievement Awards.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 15, 2016. Nomination forms are available at www.bcachievement.com/community.

"Each year, we receive an amazing array of nominations for people from all walks of life who selflessly contribute towards the betterment of their communities," said Cathryn Wilson, the foundation's executive director.

The awards were established by the provincial government in 2003. Each year an independent panel of judges review nominations and choose British Columbians throughout the province to be honoured at a special ceremony at Government House in Victoria.

Wilson said the awards recognize those who contribute in a range of pursuits: sports and recreation, arts and culture, environment, multiculturalism, healthcare, education, civic duty, business innovation, community volunteerism, and youth or seniors leadership. Past recipients can be found on the foundation website: www.bcachievement.com/community.

Enquiries about the nomination process can be made by contacting the foundation directly at 604.261.9777 or toll free at 1.866.882.6088 or by emailing info@bcachievement.com.
