Deadline Approaching for Revision of List of Electors for Monday, March 17, 2008, Federal By-elections

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 6, 2008) - The period for making changes to the list of electors for the federal by-elections in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River (Saskatchewan), Toronto Centre (Ontario), Vancouver Quadra (British Columbia) and Willowdale (Ontario) on Monday, March 17, 2008, is drawing to a close. An elector who wants to add his or her name to the list, or to make corrections to name or address information, should contact the local Elections Canada office in his or her electoral district before 6:00 p.m. (local time) on Tuesday, March 11, 2008.

"To ensure that their names are on the list of electors, I encourage electors in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River, Toronto Centre, Vancouver Quadra and Willowdale who have not received a voter information card or require changes to the information on the card to call their returning officer before next Tuesday, March 11, 2008," suggested Marc Mayrand, Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. "It will save them time on election day."

After the revision period ends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008, the returning officer in each electoral district will prepare the official list of electors. This list cannot be revised again before election day.

Federal by-elections will be held in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River, Toronto Centre, Vancouver Quadra and Willowdale on Monday, March 17, 2008.
