Deadline Approaching for Submitting Entries for the BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - June 17, 2013) - Are you an artist working in jewelry, glass, wood, fibre, clay or metal among other media? Are you producing work in textiles, furniture, weaving, fashion or industrial design?

If so, your work could be recognized and honoured by the Carter Wosk British Columbia Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design. But take note: the deadline for submissions from either you or a nominator is July 10, 2013. This year, for the first time, you can submit your entry online by visiting www.bcachievement.com.

The awards are administered by the BC Achievement Foundation, which was created and endowed in 2003 by the Province of BC. The awards recognize art and design that has a practical or functional application. Some examples include a furniture designer, an artist who works with glass or an industrial designer who creates a practical object or device.

Among the previously honoured are: Brent Comber for wood design, Omer Arbel for industrial design, Rachelle Chinnery for ceramics, and Mary and Sarah Schwieger for broom making. Up to three recipients this year will be awarded $2,500 each at a presentation and exhibition event this fall. Recipients also are granted the use of the BC Achievement Award seal to signify their creative excellence. For other recipients' stories, guidance about preparing a submission and the downloadable and online entry forms, please visit www.bcachievement.com.
