NEW WESTMINSTER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2005) - The deadline for the
Westminster Savings Credit Union 2005 Youth in Action Award applications is

school students in the TriCities, Ridge Meadows, New Westminster, Surrey, and
White Rock areas.

"I received one of the 2004 Youth in Action Awards and it helped me to
continue my post secondary education towards a degree in journalism," says
Jessie Jakumeit, former Youth in Action Award recipient. "I volunteer my time
with various arts, environmental, and literacy organizations, and I was proud
to be recognized for my efforts. Such recognition helps youth to get involved
and stay committed to their communities."

Criteria for the awards includes involvement in extra-curricular volunteer
activities (including a demonstrated commitment during the student's senior
year), and a high level of academic achievement. The awards program reflects
Westminster Savings' ongoing commitment to community development.
Applications are available at local area high schools, at www.wscu.com or at
