Death of an Inmate at Donnacona Institution

On January 16^th, 2016, Ulrick Charbonneau, an inmate at Donnacona Institution was found unresponsive in his cell.

Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the Enfant-Jesus Hospital where he was pronounced dead approximately at 8:00 p.m.

At the time of his death, Mr. Charbonneau, 28 years old, had been serving since January 20^th, 2012 a sentence of 5 years, 5 months and 5 days for multiple offences such as manslaughter, assault with a weapon, utter threat and obstruction.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
