Death of an Inmate at Edmonton Institution for Women


EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Dec. 22, 2014) - Correctional Service Canada

On December 21, 2014, Nancy Andres, an inmate at Edmonton Institution for Women, died at a local hospital in Edmonton.

At the time of her death, Ms. Andres, 45 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence since May 20, 2011 for manslaughter and assault.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of her death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
