Death of an Inmate at Port-Cartier Institution


LAVAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Feb. 9, 2015) - Correctional Service Canada

On February 8th, 2015, Guy Legros, an inmate at Port-Cartier Institution, was found in need of medical attention in his cell.

Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the Centre de santé et services sociaux de Port-Cartier where he was pronounced dead at 01:25 a.m.

At the time of his death, Mr Legros, 43 years old, had been serving since December 12th, 2013 a 10-year sentence for Assault with a Weapon, Assault and Attempted Murder.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
