Death of an inmate at the Regional Psychiatric Centre


SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Aug. 31, 2017) - Correctional Service Canada

On August 30, 2017, James Leo Short, an inmate from the Regional Psychiatric Centre died while in our custody.

Emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.

At the time of his death, Mr. Short, 33 years old, had been serving a sentence of 3 years, 4 months and 21 days since April 22, 2016 for Robbery, Break Enter and Commit an Offense, Theft Over $5000, Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
