Death of an Inmate from Joliette Institution


JOLIETTE, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - March 11, 2014) - Correctional Service Canada

On March 11, 2014, Ms. Johanne Tremblay, an inmate at Joliette Institution died at the Centre hospitalier régional de Lanaudière in Joliette.

At the time of her death, Ms. Tremblay, 58 years old, had been serving a sentence of 2 years, 7 months and 15 days for assaulting a peace officer and assault with a weapon since October 25, 2013.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of her death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
