Death of an Inmate of the Federal Training Centre-Multi Level Security Unit

On April 15, 2015, Herman Cassista, an inmate of the Federal Training Centre in Laval, died at a hospital in Montréal.

At the time of his death, Mr. Cassista, 71 years old, had been serving since February 8, 2013 a sentence of 5 years and 11 months for sexual and indecent assault.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
