Death of Inmate at Donnacona Institution

DONNACONA, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 12, 2012) - On March 11, 2012 around 5:50 p.m., inmate Yan Osborne, from Donnacona Institution, a maximum security institution, was found unresponsive in his cell. Correctional Officers and medical staff immediately performed CPR and an ambulance was called.

The inmate was taken to the Centre hospitalier de l'Université Laval (CHUL) where he was pronounced dead at 7:00 p.m.

At the time of his death, Mr. Osborne, 38 years old, was serving a life sentence for first degree murder. His sentence had commenced on November 1^st 2000.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
