Death of Inmate at Port-Cartier Institution


PORT-CARTIER, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 2, 2012) - On September 30, 2012, at approximately 12:35 p.m., inmate Daniel Madore, from Port-Cartier Institution, a maximum security institution, died at Enfant-Jésus Hospital. The cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

At the time of his death, Mr. Madore, 47 years old, was serving a 2 year, 2 month sentence for Arson, Mischief, Riot, Assault with a Weapon and Theft. His sentence had commenced on February 16, 2012.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
