Death of Inmate at the Federal Training Center

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2012) - On November 22, 2012, at approximately 3:00 p.m., inmate John Malone, from the Federal Training Center, a multi-level security federal penitentiary, died of apparent natural causes at the Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital.

At the time of his death, Mr. Malone, 54 years old, was serving a two-year and three-month sentence for thefts and assault with a weapon. His sentence had commenced on June 30, 2011.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
