Death of Inmate at the Federal Training Center


LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2013) - On January 13, 2013, at approximately 2:45 p.m., inmate Michel Leblanc, from the Federal Training Center, a multi-level security facility, died of apparent natural causes at the Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital.

At the time of his death, Mr. Leblanc, 59 years old, was serving a 2 year, 5 month and 4 day sentence for driving a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of more than 80 mg/ 100 ml of blood. His sentence had commenced on June 21, 2012.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
