Dec. 24 and 25 Update on Tickets and Activities Around the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 24, 2008) - The host organizing committee for the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship outlined the following updates on ticket availability and activities around the event.

TICKETS

Tickets will be put on sale on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. for the Canada-USA New Year's Eve game, the two quarter-finals on Jan. 2, the semi-finals on Jan. 3 and the bronze-medal game on Jan. 5. All games are at SBP Arena.

Tickets and other packages can be purchased by visiting www.CapitalTickets.ca, by phone at 613-599-FANS (3267) or 1-877-788-FANS (3267); in person at The Sens Store at Rideau Centre and Place d'Orleans; any Ottawa Sports Experts location, the Centrepointe Theatre and at the SBP Arena box office.

EVENT ACTIVITIES NEWS

Test games - The host organizing committee will hold test games at 10 a.m. today at SBP Arena and the Civic Centre to put their volunteers and various systems through a simulated day. Four minor teams have been recruited to help in the test games.

Free Team Canada Open Practice - The Canadian team's practice on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 12:45 p.m. at SBP Arena will be open to the public. Doors will open at 12:15 p.m. There will be free admission and free parking.

TEAM PRACTICE SCHEDULES FOR DEC. 24-25 (times subject to change)

Wednesday, Dec. 24 at SBP Arena: Germany, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Canada, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Kazakhstan, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; and, Czech Republic, 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 24 at Civic Centre: Latvia, 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.; Russia, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Finland. 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 25 at SBP Arena: USA, noon to 1 p.m.; Germany, 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.; Czech Republic, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Canada, 3:45 p.n. to 4:45 p.m.; Kazakhstan, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 25 at Civic Centre: Russia, noon to 1 p.m.; Latvia, 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.; Sweden, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Finland, 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.; Slovakia, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
