DECK Monitoring Partners With NREL to Track the Performance of Innovative Photovoltaic Projects

National Renewable Energy Laboratory Program Will Develop a Broad Picture of U.S. PV Performance

EUGENE, OR--(Marketwire - May 5, 2011) - DECK Monitoring has partnered with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to support its PV Data Acquisition (PVDAQ) project, which aims to develop and communicate a broad picture of photovoltaic (PV) field performance across the U.S.

Data contributed to the PVDAQ project will be analyzed for many performance factors, the results of which are provided to the public through its online database. The high quality PV performance data that DECK Monitoring already collects from sites across the country can now be transferred to NREL for this important work, at the customer's discretion. DECK Monitoring is the first to offer this service, and at no additional charge.

"By providing accurate PV performance data to NREL for inclusion in the PVDAQ database, partners such as DECK Monitoring are improving our understanding of PV field performance," NREL Senior Reliability Engineer Ryan Smith said. "NREL is committed to providing the public with PV performance information to help improve confidence in solar electricity generation while identifying issues that may remain."

Operators of any photovoltaic project, including those funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, are encouraged to provide this data to NREL.

"Significantly, NREL's goals for the PVDAQ project directly align with DECK Monitoring's mission -- to promote and enable renewable energy," said Will Shortt, CEO of Deck Monitoring. "There are many reasons why our team loves the work we do," Shortt said. "But primary among them is being able to live our mission every day by contributing to projects like this that make a difference."
