Dedupe2 Finds Its Ultimate Deduplication Expert

Twitter-Based Contest Tested Participants' Deduplication Knowledge; Awarded Top Expert a New TomTom ONE 125 Navigation System


CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - January 19, 2010) - Dedupe2.com, the gathering place for the data management industry to discuss, debate and shape the next era of data deduplication, today announced Aaron Jarson as the winner of its Twitter-based "Navigation Through Deduplication" contest. Jarson fought off stiff competition and won the grand prize, a TomTom ONE 125 navigation system.

The contest ran from November 17th-December 20th with two deduplication-related questions asked each week via the Dedupe2 Twitter channel. Contest participants were instructed to direct message the site at @Dedupe2 with the correct answer. Jarson was chosen as the winner based on submitting the most correct answers. The contest was open to all* participants who wished to test their knowledge of data deduplication. The participants had to have a Twitter account and had to follow @Dedupe2 in order to be able to send direct messages. Contest questions ranged from "What does SHA stand for in SHA-1 & SHA-2?" to "Is single instancing on the file or sub file level?" All of the questions are posted at www.dedupe2.com, where visitors can continue to submit answers and new questions about deduplication technology.
