Deepwell Announces Director Appointment

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 21, 2008) -


Deepwell Energy Services Trust ("Deepwell" or the "Trust") (TSX:DWL.UN) announced today that the Board of Directors ("Board") of its general partner, Deepwell Energy Services, Ltd., has appointed Ross D. S. Douglas, P. Eng., currently president and CEO of privately held Mancal Energy Inc., to the Board. Mr. Douglas has extensive exploration and production and public company experience having previously served as President and CEO of Highridge Exploration Ltd. and President and CEO of Atlantis Resources Ltd. In addition, he is actively involved in the oil and gas industry having served as a past governor and chairman of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, and he is currently a member of the EUB Advisory Committee, a board member of the Canadian Centre for Energy Information and a member of the University of Calgary Schulich Industry Advisory Council. In addition to his position as a director, Mr. Douglas will serve as chairman of the Health, Safety & Environmental and Compensation committees of the Board.

The Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of Byron Lutes as a director. Mr. Lutes tendered his resignation in order to devote his full attention to his new position as President of Southern Pacific Resource Corp. The Board extends its gratitude to Mr. Lutes for his term as a director.
