Defense Information Systems Agency Certifies Polycom HDX 9000

Polycom Committed to Delivering Complete Visual Communications Solutions That Meet Stringent U.S. Government Security, Interoperability and Performance Requirements

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - July 15, 2008) - Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM), the global leader in telepresence, video and voice communications solutions, today announced the Polycom HDX 9000™ series high-definition telepresence solution with Software Release 2.0.0J has been added to the Department of Defense Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UCAPL).

To achieve this status, the Polycom HDX 9000 with Software Release 2.0.0J passed two stringent certification processes: 1) It received Information Assurance Accreditation (IA) from the Defense IA/Security Accreditation Working Group (DSAWG) on June 10, 2008; and 2) It received the Interoperability Certification (IOC) on April 23, 2008 from the Joint Staff. These combined certifications allow for video communications over ISDN (H.320) networks.

Joint Interoperability Certification applies to every Department of Defense (DOD) Information Technology (IT) and National Security System (NSS) and assures that the Combatant Commander, Services, and Agency systems can interoperate in a joint, combined, and coalition environment.

"Polycom is committed to providing complete visual communication solutions that meet the stringent security, performance and interoperability requirements of the U.S. government," said Barry Morris, vice president of federal sales, Polycom. "Polycom has an extensive certification roadmap in place, which is further supported by the broader Polycom VC2 vision to provide simple, scalable and secure solutions that extend the Polycom UltimateHD™ experience."

Polycom recognizes that implementing secure communication technologies, validating standards and interoperability is, in many cases, a mandatory requirement for government customers and has created the Polycom Government Security website to provide easy access to related information and resources.

Additional information about Polycom products currently on the Department of Defense (DOD) Approved Products List (APL), the DISA's Memorandum of Certification, and the HDX 9000 Software Release 2.0.0J is available on the Polycom Certification & Accreditation page.
