Deh Cho Travel Connection-2013 Diamonds in the Rough Passport Contest Winner Selected

YELLOWKNIFE, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES--(Marketwired - Nov. 25, 2013) - The night air took on a brilliant sparkle for the grand prize winner of a 1.11 carat Polar Bear Diamond™ at the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at Northwest Territories Tourism Industry Conference, held in Hay River, NT from November 5th to 7th, 2013.

On-hand to draw the winners of Deh Cho Travel Connection's Diamonds in the Rough passport contest was Mr. Deepak Kumar, President & CEO of Deepak International Ltd., the contest grand prize sponsor. The lucky winner was Mr. Sig Halwa of Grande Prairie, AB. The diamond was presented to Mr. Halwa on November 21st at the Grande Prairie Visitor Centre by the Vice-President of the Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association, a partner of the Deh Cho Travel Connection marketing coalition.

The Deh Cho Travel Connection or route is a 2,200 Km driving destination located in northwest Alberta, northeast British Columbia and southern Northwest Territories. The route links three of northern Canada's historic highways: the Mackenzie, Liard and Alaska highways. The 25 communities that participate offer a wide variety of historical, cultural and outdoor adventure opportunities.

The passport contest has been hosted by the Deh Cho Travel Connection each summer since 2008. The passport contest runs from May 15th to September 1st and travellers wanting to participate can pick-up a passport at a participating Visitor Information Centre along the Deh Cho Travel route. To be eligible for the contest draw, participants are required to obtain 4 stamps from each of the participating jurisdictions, (AB, BC, NWT) for a total of 12 passport stamps.
