DEKALB® Soybean Growers in Canada Win Big in DEKALB Yield Challenge

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Nov. 8, 2012) - In spite of the weather challenges thrown at farmers this year, DEKALB®growers saw some record yields in the 2012 DEKALB Double the Difference Yield Challenge contest.

The yield challenge contest was open to growers of DEKALB Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans, with one winner chosen from each of the DEKALB territories. The goal of the challenge was to see how well farmers could maximize yield potential with DEKALB brand soybeans. The winners were the farmers who realized the biggest yield increases over the 2009 average yield in each eligible territory.

The nine growers will each receive DEKALB brand seed plus an all-expenses paid trip to the 2013 Commodity Classic in Kissimmee, Florida next March. The Commodity Class is America's national agricultural convention and trade show put on by the National Corn Growers Association, the American Soybean Association, the National Association of Wheat Growers and the National Sorghum Producers. It attracts over 6,000 attendees and close to 1,000 trade show exhibitors annually.

In addition, Keith Reeds from Lindsay, ON was the lucky winner of a random draw from all entries and will also join the group heading to Florida next March.

"While the growing season was one of the most challenging we've seen in a long time, it's very satisfying to see how well our growers did with several varieties of DEKALB Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans grown in locations across Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec," said Denise Hockaday, DEKALB marketing manager. "We congratulate all the growers who entered the contest and took on the challenge of growing DEKALB Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans this past season."
