UNION, NJ--(Marketwire - Dec 12, 2011) - Del-Sano Contracting Corporation, a general contracting, design/build and construction management services firm, today announced the completion of the St. Joseph's Children's Hospital Pediatric Care Center and Women's Health Center for St. Joseph's Healthcare System. The 3,500 square foot satellite medical facility is located on the first floor of the Gold LEED-certified Garden Street Lofts building at the corner of Garden and 14th Streets in Hoboken, N.J.
Del-Sano Contracting completed the Garden Street Lofts construction project in 2009, which received the prestigious Award of Merit from New York Construction that year. The pediatric and women's care center build-out has followed in the same vein with LEED-qualified materials, recycling, low VOC content, and indoor air quality standards. The Garden Street Lofts' high performance building standards and product sustainability were not compromised; and the completed interior building product is also in sync with the hospital guide on LEED credits.
The new Pediatric Care and Women's Health Center conveys a contemporary setting enhanced with soft and warm finishes, a cloud-like ceiling and a conversational Moto Art receiving desk. The desk was built from a former DC-8 airplane. The airplane, an element of the Children's Hospital logo, is a signature feature at many St. Joseph's Children's Hospital locations. The brightly appointed patient care center includes exam and diagnostic space beginning at the patient triage room, then child and female exam rooms, as well as an ultrasound diagnostic area. All of the exam rooms are finished with sanitary impervious flooring and base, and the tidy wall covering finishes are joined with custom mill work and staged with hand-washing sinks. There are ceramic tiled ADA restrooms, for adult use as well as the pediatric patients.
