Delta Electronics, Primarion Announce Their Entry Into the Digital Power Architecture Market With the DXP 30

CHUNGLI, TAIWAN and TORRANCE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 13, 2005 -- Delta Electronics, Inc., a world leader in power system solutions and state-of-the-art technologies, in conjunction with Primarion, a mixed signal semiconductor company that provides digital control of power and I/O solutions, today announced shipment of the first samples of their latest power technology breakthrough product, the Digital X-Power 30 or the DXP 30. The DXP 30 supports a new, innovative power architecture jointly developed by Delta and a world leading networking company. Though the DXP 30 product was developed to address the ever-growing demands of increased current and power densities in networking applications while also providing maximum flexibility for system configurations, its benefits can easily be applied to other applications, transcending various other market segments.

The DXP 30, which boasts a useable (55C, 200LFM) current density of 60A/in2 and a power density of up to 216W/in3, is a building block for a new open Digital Power Architecture, developed with Primarion's latest Digital Multiphase PWM Controller. Measuring 0.5"Hx0.5"Wx1.0"L and rated at 30A of output current, the DXP 30 is designed to operate from an input voltage of 7V to 11V and provides adjustable output voltages from 0.8V to 2.5V in digitally defined step resolutions of 1.62mV. Multiple DXP 30's may be used in parallel to serve applications where output currents are in excess of 30A with limitations imposed only by the control circuit, analog or digital. Designed for superior cost performance, a system's overall cost using the DXP 30 could be up to 40 percent less per amp as compared to other competitive products being offered in the market today. Primarion's Digital Power Controller provides system level control and monitoring for the demanding requirements of computing, graphics and networking applications. The chipset offers greater performance, advanced features and lower system costs, which enables the DXP 30 to efficiently achieve greater power density at lower costs.

Dr. Fu-Sheng Tsai, Director of DC/DC ODM Business for Delta Electronics, who is responsible for Delta's Digital Power Technology development, believes Delta, with their commitment to provide customer focused, high tech, cost effective power solutions to its customer base, will become a major contributor to the evolving digital movement in the power conversion arena, starting with its strategic partnership with Primarion. "The DXP 30 provides yet another successful example of how Delta is able to mobilize with their technology partners to utilize all resources and technologies at our disposal to swiftly come up with power solutions not only meeting all of our customer's systems needs, but also raising to the challenges of meeting both an extremely aggressive design schedule and competitive price/performance goals."

Ron Van Dell, President and CEO of Primarion, adds, "Primarion is pleased to collaborate on the breakthrough DXP 30 product with a world leader in the power supply industry, Delta Electronics. The new digital power architecture provides system configuration, full loop control, as well as monitoring and supervisory functions through a digital bus. Leveraging these innovations, the DXP 30 solution delivers increased accuracy, real-time intelligence, and simplified system design, while achieving a lower system cost than analog-based solutions. Additionally, system designers will benefit from our flexible architecture, which also enables optimized performance for specific applications."

Additional information on the Digital X-Power 30 product, including Data Sheets, Application Notes and OEM pricing will be available Q4/05.
