Demand for Patriots Tickets up Nearly 13% From 2014

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwired - Jul 29, 2015) - Even with Roger Goodell upholding the suspension of Tom Brady, the status of the New England Patriots' quarterback for the first four games of the season is still unknown pending an appeal by Brady. Regardless of what happens in court, demand for tickets to see the defending champion New England Patriots has grown for the upcoming season, following one of the most controversial offseasons in NFL history. According to's study on NFL ticket prices, ticket prices for the Patriots have increased 13% compared to the same time frame in the 2014 season.

The Patriots have been embroiled in national controversy since January, when news first broke that the balls used in the conference championship game were potentially tampered with. Following an investigation, the league levied a stiff punishment against the team which included a four-game suspension for star quarterback Tom Brady. On Tuesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell finally announced his decision to uphold the suspension, however that is not the end of the sage, as Brady will reportedly

While fans nationwide have taken the side of the league in believing that Brady and the team are guilty, the fans of New England have stood firmly behind their quarterback, taking on a "they hate us, because the ain't us" mentality. At least in part, the increase in ticket demand can be credited to the fans rallying behind Brady and the team.

"Patriots fans have seen a lot of great football over the past 15 years and when someone questions the validity of that success, they get fired up," Tim Fraser, Sports Specialist,, said. "For those fans, this season is going to be about showing the league and the other 31 teams who the best team truly is and defending a championship. What fan wouldn't want to be a part of that?"

Patriots fans are most looking forward to the team's Sept. 10 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is the league's opening game and the night the Patriots are scheduled to unveil their championship banner. Fans have paid an average of $436 for a ticket to the game with hopes that Brady's suspension will be overturned and he will be suited up for the game.
