Earlier this year Italy approved a decree that cuts spending on generous solar power incentives. Under the new solar decree, a transitional period with gradual cuts in incentives will start from June 1, 2011 and run to 2013, after which the incentives will automatically be linked to reaching a certain level of installed capacity.

With shares of JA Solar trading at 52 week lows, the company's Chief Financial Officer Anthea Chung recently resigned. The company said Min Cao, who has worked in the solar industry since 2006, will replace Chung.

Shares of LDK Solar have not been hit quite as hard as other Chinese solar companies. The company recently agreed to supply a total of 35 megawatts of solar modules to two undisclosed electricity producers in China.
