DEMO Mobile 2013 Conference Launches Latest Mobile Innovations for Consumer, Enterprise, Social, Commerce Landscapes

In Its 23rd Year, the World's Leading Launchpad for Emerging Technologies Hosts Insightful Discussions With Veteran Entrepreneur Vinod Khosla, Thought Leader Steve Blank, and Executives From Pandora, Twitter and Mailbox

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 17, 2013) - DEMO Mobile 2013 today showcased a carefully selected demonstrator class devoted to Mobile Health, Mobile Work, Mobile Frontiers, Mobile Platforms and Mobile Social, as well as insightful expert conversations about the prospects and impact of these exciting technologies and applications. In true DEMO conference fashion, the 23 demonstrators and six Alpha Pitch companies handpicked for this one-day event illustrated where mobile computing will make its greatest impacts in the lives of individuals and businesses of all sizes, services and products.

"Even with nearly one million mobile apps each for iOS and Android, we've just begun to scratch the surface of how these technologies can change our lives," said Erick Schonfeld, executive producer of DEMO Mobile. "This conference is about showcasing breakthrough mobile products which promise to have a deep impact not only in the way we communicate, socialize, and play, but also in the way we work. The companies we've carefully selected represent the most cutting-edge mobile technologies available today."

In addition to demonstrators launching from DEMO Mobile 2013, several key thought leaders and veteran entrepreneurs took the stage to offer their tips for mobile success. The most anticipated speaker was legendary entrepreneur, investor and mentor Vinod Khosla, who revealed how other entrepreneurs can identify and profit from industry shifts. Additionally, Pandora's Tom Conrad, alongside Andreessen Horowitz' Chris Dixon and RunKeeper's Jason Jacobs, shared how mobile entrepreneurs can reach 10 million users, and provided tips to keep those users coming back for more. DEMO Mobile 2013 also featured the first Founder School, where inaugural speaker and godfather of the Lean Startup movement Steve Blank addressed the challenges posed by the mobile environment. As part of his presentation, he brought onstage several founder practitioners who have found ways around mobile's limitations, including Sincerely's Matt Brezina, Mailbox/Orchestra's Gentry Underwood, and Wanelo's Deena Varshavskaya.

Other speaker highlights include key executives and 'Founder Judges' -- those who provided critiques and feedback to each demonstrating company:

  • Aileen Lee, Founder, Cowboy Ventures
  • Aseem Sood, Head of Mobile Product Management, Dropbox
  • Chi-Hua Chien, General Partner, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers

The inaugural DEMO Mobile conference -- part of the long-standing DEMO conference series -- showcased a carefully selected demonstrator class devoted to mobile computing, which is taking over the world of apps and devices, reconfiguring the consumer, enterprise, social, and commerce landscapes. Each company shared a six-minute demonstration of their technology with DEMO's audience of technology innovators, decision-makers, press and investors in an attempt to secure funding, establish critical business relationships, and influence early adopters. In addition to the elite demonstrator class, DEMO Mobile 2013 also showcased its popular Alpha Pitch program, where early stage entrepreneurs and pre-launch companies were given 90 seconds to share their prototypes with the savvy DEMO crowd.
