Denver Zoo Presents LEGO® Events on August 6 and 8

Nights Will Feature Family-Friendly Activities and First Looks of Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® Bricks, Brought to You by The Goddard Schools

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - July 24, 2015) - Denver Zoo is hosting two, exciting events for its new, traveling exhibit, "Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® Bricks," brought to you by The Goddard Schools, on August 6 and 8, each from 6:30-9 p.m., with a chance to meet the artist on the first night. Each night will feature special entertainment and guests will be among the first to experience this award-winning exhibit, featuring more than 35 life-size, and even some larger-than-life, animal and plant sculptures created using LEGO® bricks. The cost for both events is $15 for adults and $10 for children age 3-11, with Zoo members receiving a $5 discount on August 8. Proceeds will support the Denver Zoo Scholarship Fund. The exhibit opens to the general public on August 7 and runs through November 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On August 6, the Zoo will host the LEGO® Preview Night. Guests will be awed as they discover works of art representing species from both North America and abroad scattered through the Zoo, including a 400-pound bumblebee and a hummingbird with an eight-foot wing span. Visitors will also get the chance to meet the exhibit's artist, Sean Kenney.

On August 8, the Zoo will host the Saturday Night "Block" Party, where guests will enjoy the exhibit the night after it opens to the public and members will receive a special $5 discount.

Each night will also feature a live DJ and LEGO® Bricks Show by Princess' Group, family-friendly activities, including complimentary carousel rides and Lorikeet Adventure feedings, zookeeper talks and animal demonstrations around the Zoo. There will even be a Block City Beer Garden for adults. All of the Zoo's buildings and two of its restaurants will be also be open for dinner and snacks.

Sean Kenney is a renowned, award-winning artist and "professional kid" who uses LEGO pieces to design and create contemporary sculptures for high-profile clients, major corporations and venues around the globe. For more than 10 years, Sean and his work have been prominently featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, PBS Arts, BBC Arts, NHK Japan, ABC World News, HGTV, ELLE, Wired, and countless more. Sean has created award-winning, internationally-touring exhibits and is the author of 8 best-selling inspirational children's books.

In addition to showing guests how they connect with animals and nature through art, Zoo staff members hope "Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® Bricks," brought to you by The Goddard Schools, will build a fondness among children for science, technology, engineering and math. During regular business hours, the exhibit is free with regular Zoo admission.
